    In Conversation with Dietrich Bonhoeffer

    Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a German Lutheran pastor, theologian, and key founding member of the Confessing Church, a movement within Protestant churches that countered fascism during the Nazi regime. He was imprisoned in a concentration camp and later hanged, accused of being involved in a plot to assassinate Hitler. This three-part Zoom series will explore several of Bonhoeffer’s writings during his resistance to the Nazi dictatorship, and questions they raise for our current times. This prestigious award, originally envisioned by Mary Southard, CSJ, and John Surette, SJ, has honored luminaries such as Thomas Berry, Brian Swimme, Miriam Therese MacGillis, Mary Evelyn Tucker, John Grim, Diarmuid O’Murchu, Ilia Delio, John Haught, John Philip Newell, Elizabeth Johnson, Sara Thomsen, and many others. This year, we are honored to award Chris Baglow, Ph.D. Academic Director, Science & Religion Initiative; Professor of the Practice, Theology at Notre Dame. "Through this immersive exhibit you will experience and understand the vastness of our ocean plastic problem. Walk below 1,278 plastic fish while viewing a stunning photo gallery from National Geographic photojournalist Randy Olson. Floor to ceiling screens immerse you in an LED Wave Wall of ocean imagery — from colorful coral reefs to mesmerizing swarms of jellyfish. Interactive and fully accessible kiosks allow guests to dive deeper into the plastic pollution problem and start to understand where solutions exist. See the impact of plastic pollution on our oceans, before learning about the solutions to this daunting problem."
