World renowned artist and our beloved Sr. Mary, will present her own “Cosmogenesis” through her life’s work as an artist.

Cataclysm, Mary Southard, CSJ

During the program we will experience through viewing Sr. Mary’s Art how her images explore and give expression to this journey of soul that we all are on in our time; how we recognize today more strongly than ever before the intimate interconnections we have with all creatures, great and small, and the one Sacred Community we are in this evolutionary Universe, with all its beauty and longing, passion and mystery, danger and challenge.

We will explore together, the mysteries of the Sacred Universe being revealed today through science, and how these new insights challenge our images of God from the past, and the self-understandings which are opening up for us. How do we realize and embrace our call to participate in and to foster God’s Dream for our species and for our world? What does that look like? What stirs in us now—as we realize that what we are doing today determines the future of our planet for generations to come?

Women Singing Earth, Mary Southard, CSJ

Through a yearly Art/Reflection Calendar, which she began in 1979 until the present, Mary’s work brings into consciousness the Oneness of All Creation, and of the importance of all our actions and choices affecting the health or diminishment of Earth, our common home. She was co-founder of the Ecological Spirituality Center in the 1980’s (now The Well) in La Grange Park, IL, and was Co-Founder of SpiritEarth with John Surette, SJ in 1990.
