The 13.8 billion year Story of our Universe is the overarching context of all we do here at The Well. It is a sacred story because it has unfolded us and everything else that has existed, presently exists, and will exist in the future. It carries all that is important and sacred to us. It reveals to us the truth that mystics and indigenous people have always known: WE ARE ALL ONE. We cannot fully tell our stories without including them in this larger cosmic story.
“SpiritEarth” is a word coined by John Surette, SJ and Mary Southard, CSJ to convey the inherent sacredness of all of creation, and to remind us that we evolve out of Earth and our very existence depends upon her and her health.
The consciousness of this new story underpins all of our programming, some directly and some indirectly. We offer a spring sabbatical for those who desire immersion into the Sacred Universe Story and well as ongoing Sacred Universe classes. See our program section for current offerings or information on our sabbatical program.
The Well houses the largest library in the Midwest that is dedicated to books and periodicals on the Sacred Universe.
SpiritEarth is a publication that expands and advances The Well Spirituality Center’s mission as a regional center for telling and engaging our Sacred Universe story and fostering the evolving role of humankind in this great drama.
