The estimated cost of the trip is $2100. The purpose of the pilgrimage is to experience sacred sites of the Lakota Tribe in the Badlands and Black Hills, to connect to the community at Maȟpíya Lúta, to appreciate the art, culture, and wisdom of the Lakota people, and to offer donated materials to the school communities on Pine Ridge Reservation. Highlights will include a tour of the brand new Čhatkú Arts Center, visits to the Wounded Knee, Black Hills, and Bear Butte, and exploration into the life of Servant of God Nicholas Black Elk, whose cause for sainthood was opened in 2017. This nine-month retreat captures the essence of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius, inviting participants to prayer daily, meet with a spiritual director, and connect with others engaging in the retreat process. All are welcome to share in this ecumenical, interfaith spiritual formation opportunity focused on deepening our connection with God in our everyday lives. This retreat allows participants to experience the Exercises with an Ignatian-trained spiritual guide over the course of nine months. It is a wonderful way to intentionally grow closer to God, strengthen one’s prayer life, and enrich one’s spirit. Who is SEEL for? Anyone looking to deepen their spiritual life, relationship with God, or prayer practice. The Universe Story is the realization that the Divine has been active in the Universe from the Big Bang forward - that we are descendants of stars, that we and all of Creation are divinely inter-connected, and that everything we know about the world and ourselves is the result of the evolutionary process of life, death and rebirth. Come spend a day with us experiencing the Universe Story in a new way - chock full of rituals, wanders on the land, and small group sharing.
