Season of Creation: Urban Stream Research Center
This event will take place at the Urban Stream Restoration Center at Blackwell Forest Preserve. The main entrance is on the north side of Butterfield Road 0.25 mile west of Winfield Road in Warrenville. Weather permitting, after the tour participants are welcome to enjoy a self-supplied picnic lunch or hike the beautiful area. Visitors on the Aquatic Restoration and Conservation Tour investigate how environmental issues threaten the quality and sustainability of aquatic resources while exploring the Urban Stream Research Center to view science technology and learn how ecosystem structure and function are being recreated and repaired using restoration techniques and aquatic species propagation. Half of the tour is indoors and then the group is guided on a crushed gravel trail for about 10 minutes to continue learning along the creek.
