Season of Creation: Pilgrimage to South Dakota

Join us for a pilgrimage to Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota October 10th-15th! The estimated cost of the trip is $2100. The purpose of the pilgrimage is to experience sacred sites of the Lakota Tribe in the Badlands and Black Hills, to connect to the community at Maȟpíya Lúta, to appreciate the art, culture, and wisdom of the Lakota people, and to offer donated materials to the school communities on Pine Ridge Reservation. Highlights will include a tour of the brand new Čhatkú Arts Center, visits to the Wounded Knee, Black Hills, and Bear Butte, and exploration into the life of Servant of God Nicholas Black Elk, whose cause for sainthood was opened in 2017.

We are working with Maȟpíya Lúta (formerly Red Cloud Indian School, Inc.), a Jesuit led organization located on the Pine Ridge Reservation.

Facilitator and Executive Director of Christ in the Wilderness Logan John is a scholar-practitioner working at the intersections of ecotheology, interfaith praxis, and the interconnectedness of all things. His background living and learning with the Lumbee people has inspired a deep commitment to amplifying indigenous wisdom. Logan has taught university courses on sacred land, worked with indigenous advocates at the United Nations Commission on Social Development, and led retreats to the Black Hills, Sangre de Christo Mountains, and Catskills.
