May 5-15, 2018
Trip Guides: Kathy Brazda, CSJ (walked the entire Camino in 2015)
and Jackie Schmitz, CSJ
For over a thousand years, pilgrims have made their way across northern Spain to the town of Santiago de Compostela and the shrine of St. James. Our pilgrimage will leave from Chicago and fly to Madrid. After a day in Madrid, we will travel by train to Sarria and begin walking the Camino for approximately 71 miles (115 kilometers) to the Cathedral and shrine of St. James.
Our pilgrimage will take us through Galicia which has Celtic origins. We will walk through woodland paths, gravel roads and Eucalyptus forests. The path will wind through many small towns through river valleys and up and down gently rolling hills as we journey to Santiago.
6 days walking the Camino, approximately 10-12 miles per day (total of 71 miles/115 kilometers).
